How to sign a PDF without printing it
Printing a form only to sign it and scan it again wastes time and makes the document blurry. You can put your signature straight onto the PDF.
Sign a PDF in three steps
- Open Sign PDF and add your PDF.
- Create your signature in one of three ways: draw it with your finger or mouse, type your name in a handwriting-style font, or upload a photo of your signature on white paper.
- Place it on the page, resize it to fit the signature line, and click Save signed PDF.
Tips for a signature that looks real
- Use a photo of your real signature for formal documents. Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen and photograph it in daylight from straight above.
- Size it like a pen signature. A signature that fills half the page looks odd; match the space on the form.
- Add the date and your name next to it if the form asks. The editor's Edit PDF text tool can add both, along with ticks for checkboxes.
Filling in the rest of the form
If the PDF has fillable boxes, Fill PDF form lets you type into them. If it is a flat scan, Edit PDF lets you add text anywhere on the page.
Is a signature added this way valid?
For everyday paperwork, such as rental forms, consent letters and internal approvals, an image of your signature is usually accepted. Some legal and government documents need a certified digital signature (DSC) or Aadhaar eSign instead, which a signature image is not. If you are unsure, check with whoever asked for the document.
Your document stays private
Sign PDF runs in your browser, so neither the document nor your signature is uploaded.
